Poker Tip # 15

One of the most important qualities that a professional player can have is patience. The patience to wait for those hands in poker that are profitable, and very few are, despite what you may see on television from time to time.

When watching poker tournaments on television, it is important to remember that many hands are not shown. Only the action hands usually make the cut and give the appearance that professional poker players play almost every hand. This is not the case; however, and most of what you would see on TV would not be profitable in most cash or limit poker games, the two areas that most pros make their living.

Back to patience, to maintain your profitability and avoid many severe losses, wait for those hands that you know will show a profit over the long run, and try not to lose too much on those hands you just should not be playing in the first place.
