2004 World Poker Tournament Invitational
Hosted at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles, the World Poker Tour held its Second World class Poker Invitational Tournament February 25th (and televised on the travel channel June 2nd) 382 players vied for $$200 Thousand in the High Stakes Tournament with the first person winner going home with $100 Thousand in winnings.. Nice payday for Phil Laak, the Unibomber. That’s right, young Phil Laak of California, a.k.a. the "Unibomber "shown above in his playing costume, who has got to be one of the youngest players in poker today, is now the new and the second winner of the World Class Poker Tournament Invitational. Second runner-up was Costa Rican Humberto Brenes, shown below, who played a tense and dramatic game. It was an intense and exciting tournament with more twists than a mystery film. Phil Laak and The Great Dane, Gus Hansen, winner of two major tournaments and the L.A. Classic at Commerce Casino, were both roommates in New York. While I was chatting with Gus Hansen, he also mentioned that despite the many antics of Phil as the "Unibomber" he is indeed a clever and respected professional player.
This years WPT at the Commerce Casino, promised even more excitement than last years epic thriller finish between Professional Player Layne Flack and Lakers Owner Jerry Buss. It was an exciting match with Jerry playing a short stack with all the skill of a top professional player and outplaying many favorites to finish second only to Layne.
The classic poker tournament included a series of poker events that the players either bought-in or won their way into individual events by entering satellite tournaments held at various casinos.
On the 24th of February was Celebrity Poker with Ben Affleck, who I had the pleasure of meeting and found to be a most personable and gracious man and the stunning Lolita Davidovich along with James Woods and many other celebrities.
Our Poker-Pro Staff walked away with many new strategies for poker and certainly enjoyed covering this dramatic event which will air the 2nd of June on the travel channel.

Turbo Texas Hold'em teaches tight, aggressive play. It gives advice as
you play, gives exact odds, evaluates your play, has lots of statistics
and lets you do testing. (You can even assign specific cards to specific
players if you like.) You set the limits and the number of players (2-10)
and what type of game you want to play in (loose, tight, average, etc.).
You can even make your own players. It does not include tournament play
nor no-limit or pot-limit play.
Tournament Texas Hold'em plays tournaments; limit, pot-limit or no-limit. You choose from 1-100 tables, rebuys or not, how quickly the blinds increase and level of competition : average, above average or loose. The Turbo features listed above are not in the tournament.
In summary, Turbo helps improve your play for both regular and tournament play while the Tournament program adds the ability to practice the timing and money management skills needed for tournament play.
